Title: Systematic Billing Fraud - Filed Federal and State Complaints
Review:
AVOID 1-800-PACK-RAT - Systematic Billing Violations
After a 16-month nightmare with 1-800-PACK-RAT (Order #2919163), I’ve filed formal complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and North Carolina Attorney General for systematic billing fraud and deceptive practices.
Systematic “Charge First, Waive Later” Policy: They operate an internal policy of deliberately overcharging customers with “required” fees, then forcing you to fight for corrections. When questioned, staff admit charges can be “waived later” - proving they know the charges are improper.
Double-Billing Scam: Charged me $2,492.34 for “transportation” then added another $83.45 for “gas/transit costs” for the SAME transportation service. That’s like charging for the truck AND the gas separately.
Safety Violations: They misplaced my container on my driveway creating a safety hazard, then CHARGED ME $125 to fix their own mistake. Staff called it “Origin Extra Touch” - charging customers to fix company errors.
Billing for Services Never Provided: Charged $15.01 for a “Deluxe Lock” I never received. Had to provide my own lock while paying for theirs.
Bad Faith Dispute Resolution: - Ignored my $1,500 settlement offer - Attempted to close BBB complaint without resolution - Only responded through social media coordinator (not legal/billing departments) - Total paid: $7,520 over 16 months for systematic abuse
Business Analysis Ignored: I provided detailed ROI analysis showing how they could save $300,000+ annually through operational improvements. They ignored valuable business advice while continuing harmful practices.
Regulatory Action Taken: Their systematic violations forced me to file complaints with federal and state agencies. This isn’t just my experience - check the reviews. Thousands of customers report identical billing violations.
Total Damages: $6,500 in documented losses from their systematic billing fraud.
Alternative: Use PODS or U-Pack. Don’t give these scammers your money.
Update: Formal legal demand sent. They recently paid $1.6 million in class action settlement for systematic violations - proves this is corporate policy, not isolated incidents.
